Sex, lies, and lingerie. The well-known comic actor Steve Martin provides a wild satire adapted from the classic German play about Louise and Theo Markes, a couple whose conservative existence is shattered when her bloomers fall down in public. Though she recovers quickly, Theo thinks the incident will cost him his job. Louise's faux pas also attracts two lovesick men, each of whom wants to rent the spare room in the Markes' home. Unaware of their romantic objectives, Theo splits the room between them, happily collecting rent from both the overdressed poet and the whiny hypochondriac.
